From Where I Stand is a compilation of artworks from educators and their students.  This year we see a variety of work from the perspective of the mentor interspersed with work of their proteges.   The work focuses on lessons learned whether physical technique or conceptual ideas.  Unique and experimental materials are often juxtaposed with traditional compositions pushing the medium and honing the skill to produce a polished piece.  Spiritual, environmental, political, mental or emotional there are many perspectives to explore. Each artist has interpreted these human concepts in a visually exciting way, as they understand them within their own practices.  A fun way to share ideas, support local arts and find unique gifts.

Stories in Layers explores story telling as a means of learning and understanding the human and animal condition. Schacht carefully selects pieces of wood and carves to enhance the texture while still maintaining the natural patterns in the wood.  This compliments and adds depth to people, wildlife and environment by linking each element with the steady flow of surface relief.  By layering graphite, modeling paste, acrylic and oil, Schacht gives the viewer an opportunity to discover new perspectives and see that each character in the story is equally important and has a purpose within the process.
