Embrace your imagination and bring your own story to life using animation. Students will explore the fundamentals of drawing to bring creatures, characters and set building to life. Students will learn basic camera techniques to create a stop-frame animation.
Ages 6 -10 with Scott McNichol

This program presents a creative adventure into one’s fantasy world through illustration and painting. Students will learn the essentials of painting while creating using a subject of choice.
Ages 10 – 14 with Scott McNichol

April 7 – 21, 3 weeks
This course will, for both the beginner and those with some experience, bring about a greater understanding techniques and concepts connecting drawing and sculpture. Starting from sketches, the student will learn how use drawing as their basis for understanding three-dimensional form. Students will then work to a completed clay sculpture.
Ages 6-10 with Scott McNichol

June 2 – 23, 4 weeks
This week, for the focused art students looking to build his/her portfolio, will examine traditional approaches to sculpture by learning essential sculptural techniques while using a variety of media. Students will achieve a greater understanding of material use, balance and texture while sculpting objects of a personal interest.

Dress in your paint clothes, bring your imagination and head to the Gallery! Students will spend the day submersed in art exploring a variety of media. Each PA Day brings new activities, repeat students welcome.

Visual Art Classes Ages 4-6
These camps are designed for kinder tots, pre-school and kindergarten aged children. Focus is on fun while integrating all art forms: Dramatic play, music and musical expression, early literature & visual art. Objective is to build on basic fine motor skills such as cutting, pasting, and coloring activities, color recognition, problem solving skills, and socialization development.
Visual Art Classes Aged 6-10
These fun art classes are designed for children in Grades K-4. Focus is on fun skill & concept development through the use of various media. Objective is to include the child’s experiences, abilities, interests, imagination and problem solving skills within each art activity. Children are also introduced to new and various art vocabulary.
Visual Art Classes Ages 10-14
These visual art classes are designed for children in Grades 5-9. Focus is on exploration, experimenting and the application of skills and concepts while further developing the idea of adding meaning to art. Objective is to include the child’s experience, ability, interest, imagination and problem solving skills within each art task. Children are also introduced to new and various art vocabulary.
Behaviour, actions, and language should contribute to a positive & safe environment at all times. The Gallery reserves the right to remove any child from a program permanently, without a refund. Please inform the gallery PRIOR to registering of any concerns that should be noted and shared with the instructor. Please note, all information collected is considered confidential, and protecting your child’s privacy is paramount.
Register early as class sizes are limited and courses may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. All cancellations normally occur one week before the first class of the course.
Registrations are accepted in person, by mail, phone or online. Full payment must accompany your registration. Post dated cheques cannot be accepted. There will be no refunds when cancelling 10 days before the first class or the event. Cancellations prior to that period will be subject to a 10% administration fee. We do not make arrangements for refunds for missed classes, events or transfers. Official receipts are issued at the time of registration. Any request made for tracing past payments/receipts will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee.
The Gallery reserves the right to cancel any class, workshop or event which does not receive sufficient enrollment. Cancellations normally occur one week prior to the start date. A full refund will be issued for classes or events cancelled by the Gallery. Instructors and content may change without notice. Registration and attendance are subject to the condition that the City of Kitchener, Homer Watson House Foundation, officers, and employees, are released from all responsibilities for injury, loss or damage, however caused, that may be sustained by any person attending a class.
