Welcome to Homer Watson House & Gallery’s Children/Youth Programming course page for Summer 2018. Please see below for available classes. Price is divided as member price / non-member price. (What’s a Membership?)

Important Notes Before Registering!

  • Supplies are included for all children’s programs, unless otherwise specified.
  • Extended Care begins no sooner than 8:00 am and pick up is no later than 5:00 pm. Extended Care is $10 for half days and $20 for full days (fee is for entire week).
  • Camps are split into morning and afternoon programs, please be sure to select one of each if you wish to register your child for a full day! Supervision is provided at lunch for full day campers.
  • Please pack a snack and/or lunch and a water bottle (yes, even if your child is only at camp for a half day)!

1874 Everything Egypt

In this class, we will take ourselves back to the time of pyramids and pharaohs and make clay projects that explore this fascinating time in history. This exciting program will have students creating 2 & 3-dimensional drawings that can be used to create animation. Composition, colour, light and shadow, and camera techniques are many of the aspects of this week that will help any photo-arts minded student to create with more strength. General Information

Visual Art Classes Ages 4-6
These camps are designed for kinder tots, pre-school and kindergarten aged children. Focus is on fun while integrating all art forms: Dramatic play, music and musical expression, early literature & visual art. Objective is to build on basic fine motor skills such as cutting, pasting, and coloring activities, color recognition, problem solving skills, and socialization development.

Visual Art Classes Aged 6-10
These fun art classes are designed for children in Grades K-4. Focus is on fun skill & concept development through the use of various media. Objective is to include the child’s experiences, abilities, interests, imagination and problem solving skills within each art activity. Children are also introduced to new and various art vocabulary.

Visual Art Classes Ages 10-14
These visual art classes are designed for children in Grades 5-9. Focus is on exploration, experimenting and the application of skills and concepts while further developing the idea of adding meaning to art. Objective is to include the child’s experience, ability, interest, imagination and problem solving skills within each art task. Children are also introduced to new and various art vocabulary.

Behaviour Management

Behaviour, actions, and language should contribute to a positive & safe environment at all times. The Gallery reserves the right to remove any child from a program permanently, without a refund. Please inform the gallery PRIOR to registering of any concerns that should be noted and shared with the instructor. Please note, all information collected is considered confidential, and protecting your child’s privacy is paramount.

A full refund will be issued for classes cancelled by the Gallery. Instructors and course content may change without notice. There will be no refunds for classes when cancelling 10 days prior to the first day of the class. Cancellations prior to that period will be subject to a 10% administration fee. Sorry, there are no refunds for missed classes or drop-outs.

Registration and attendance are subject to the condition that the City of Kitchener, the Gallery, its Directors, officers, and employees, are released from all responsibilities for injury, loss or damage, however caused, that may be sustained by any person attending a class. The student gives permission for Homer Watson House & Gallery to use photographs, video and audio of the student, taken during workshops and courses, for publicity purposes.

Registration Procedure & Policy

Registrations are accepted in person, by mail, phone or online. Full payment must accompany your registration. Post dated cheques cannot be accepted. There will be no refunds when cancelling 10 days before the first class or the event. Cancellations prior to that period will be subject to a 10% administration fee. We do not make arrangements for refunds for missed classes, events or transfers. Official receipts are issued at the time of registration. Any request made for tracing past payments/receipts will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee.

The Gallery reserves the right to cancel any class, workshop or event which does not receive sufficient enrollment. Cancellations normally occur one week prior to the start date. A full refund will be issued for classes or events cancelled by the Gallery. Instructors and content may change without notice. Registration and attendance are subject to the condition that the City of Kitchener, Homer Watson House Foundation, officers, and employees, are released from all responsibilities for injury, loss or damage, however caused, that may be sustained by any person attending a class. The student gives permission for Homer Watson House & Gallery to use photographs, video and audio of the student, taken during workshops and courses, for publicity purposes.
