1923 Making a Comic!

Making comics learn to write a comic script, draw characters, do layout and put it all together to make your own comic book!

1924 From Drawing to Sculpture

This course will help teach a new generation of up and coming masters, essential skills and tool uses to bring their drawings to a 3-dimensional reality. Learn techniques in drawing such as shading and perspective, students will see and apply these to 3D clay creations while having fun with themes they choose.

This course will help introduce and prepare students to ideas, techniques and materials of traditional art-making. An excellent way to sharpen skills and inspire students to further art endeavours.

1927 Watercolour to Acrylics

This excellent technique-based course will have young artists learning the how-to’s in using watercolour paints to acrylic paints. From how to mix colours and brush techniques, students will work with themes they enjoy to create a number of frameable artworks.

Art imitates life and what better time to create then when spring brings out all its new little creatures! This fun kids-focused program will give families insight on how to make a variety of critter artworks that are sure to fool even a trained eye. Using papers, air dry clays and more, students will learn ways to accurately imitate the little nature around them.

General Information

Visual Art Classes Ages 4-6
These camps are designed for kinder tots, pre-school and kindergarten aged children. Focus is on fun while integrating all art forms: Dramatic play, music and musical expression, early literature & visual art. Objective is to build on basic fine motor skills such as cutting, pasting, and coloring activities, color recognition, problem solving skills, and socialization development.

Visual Art Classes Aged 6-10
These fun art classes are designed for children in Grades K-4. Focus is on fun skill & concept development through the use of various media. Objective is to include the child’s experiences, abilities, interests, imagination and problem solving skills within each art activity. Children are also introduced to new and various art vocabulary.

Visual Art Classes Ages 10-14
These visual art classes are designed for children in Grades 5-9. Focus is on exploration, experimenting and the application of skills and concepts while further developing the idea of adding meaning to art. Objective is to include the child’s experience, ability, interest, imagination and problem solving skills within each art task. Children are also introduced to new and various art vocabulary.

Behaviour Management

Behaviour, actions, and language should contribute to a positive & safe environment at all times. The Gallery reserves the right to remove any child from a program permanently, without a refund. Please inform the gallery PRIOR to registering of any concerns that should be noted and shared with the instructor. Please note, all information collected is considered confidential, and protecting your child’s privacy is paramount.

Registration Procedure & Policy

Register early as class sizes are limited and courses may be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. All cancellations normally occur one week before the first class of the course.

Registrations are accepted in person, by mail, phone or online. Full payment must accompany your registration. Post dated cheques cannot be accepted. There will be no refunds when cancelling 10 days before the first class or the event. Cancellations prior to that period will be subject to a 10% administration fee. We do not make arrangements for refunds for missed classes, events or transfers. Official receipts are issued at the time of registration. Any request made for tracing past payments/receipts will be subject to a $25.00 administration fee.

The Gallery reserves the right to cancel any class, workshop or event which does not receive sufficient enrollment. Cancellations normally occur one week prior to the start date. A full refund will be issued for classes or events cancelled by the Gallery. Instructors and content may change without notice. Registration and attendance are subject to the condition that the City of Kitchener, Homer Watson House Foundation, officers, and employees, are released from all responsibilities for injury, loss or damage, however caused, that may be sustained by any person attending a class.
