Registration and attendance are subject to the condition that the City of Kitchener, the Gallery, its Directors, officers, and employees, are released from all responsibilities for injury, loss or damage, however caused, that may be sustained by any person attending a class. The student gives permission for Homer Watson House & Gallery to use photographs, video and audio of the student, taken during workshops and courses, for publicity purposes.

Summer 2010 Visual Art Camps
General Information & Guidelines
Visual Art Camps Ages 4-6
Various themed camps for this age group are
offered throughout the summer months. These camps are designed for pre-school & Kindergarten aged children. Focus is on fun while integrating all art forms: Dramatic play, music and musical
expression, early literature & visual art. Objective is to build on basic fine motor skills such as cutting, pasting, and coloring activities, color recognition, problem solving skills, and socialization
development.
Visual Art Camps Aged 6-10
These fun themed camps are designed for
children in Grades 1-5. Focus is on fun skill & concept development through the use of various media. Objective is to include the child’s experiences, abilities, interests, imagination and problem solving skills within each art activity. Children are also introduced to new and various art vocabulary.
Visual Art Camps Ages 10-14
These camps are designed for children in Grades
5-8. Focus is on fun and the application of skills and concepts while further developing the idea of adding meaning to art. Objective is to include the child’s experience, ability, interest, imagination and problem solving skills within each art task. Children are also introduced to new and various art
vocabulary.
Visual Art Camps Teen Groups 14+
These workshops are designed for TEEN aged
students interested in expanding their knowledge in visual art. Focus is on skill development and
learning. Objective is to create opportunities for mentorship, peer collaboration and portfolio
development.
Behaviour Management
Behaviour, actions, and language should contribute to a positive & safe environment at all times. The Gallery reserves the right to remove any child from a program permanently, without a refund.
Please review the following with your child:
Campers will be respectful to both themselves and others at all times.
Campers will respect individual differences.
Campers will show respect for property owned by other campers & the Gallery.
Campers will stay within the boundaries of the set activities.
Campers are responsible for their actions & the
consequences of their behaviour.
Signing Your Child In & Out
Parents & Guardians are responsible for signing their child in & out of camp on a daily basis.
No children will be allowed to run into a waiting vehicle. *Campers aged 14 and up are exempt from this procedure.
Lunches
Parents are responsible for providing healthy snacks, lunches and drinks. HWH&G prefers that campers use environmentally friendly packaging such as reusable containers, to reduce waste. *We ask that parents avoid sending any peanut based snacks or lunches.
Illness
If a camper becomes ill at camp, a parent or guardian will be notified immediately and must arrange for prompt pick up of a child. Please call if your child is not attending camp due to illness.
Summer Sun & Mosquitoes
All campers spend some time outdoors. Campers will be required to provide and apply their own sun screen & bug spray to protect themselves. Children 4-6 years old will have assistance.
What to Wear
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for daily art activities and weather
conditions. Kindly label your child’s belongings.
Lost & Found
HWH&G is not responsible for any lost or damaged belongings of campers while at camp. There are lost & found boxes in all studios.
Children should be picked up on time. Extended care is available if required.
