Eastwood Collegiate Institute’s senior art class of 2014-2015 presents their self-directed exhibition, Genesis. This young group of artists is sharing with you their coming into being as artists. This show will feature some of their best works from the past year and their final pieces as high school arts students before entering post-secondary studies. For these students, this exhibition is their birth as individual artists with their own vision. It’s the reflection of what they have learned and the beginning of a new journey of creation. Each artist has their own unique style which is shown in a variety of media including painting, printmaking and mixed media.
Through the course of the semester the students have been responsible for producing many pieces including a mini-series of works based on a self-proposed intent. Each theme is very personal. All of the artists have produced an artist statement which aids the viewer in understanding their work, motivation and technique.
We invite you to attend the “Meet the Artist” opening on Sunday January 11th, 2015 from 2pm – 4pm at Homer Watson House & Gallery. Admission is free and there will be complimentary refreshments. All of the artists, the student co-directors of the show, Chelsea Armstrong and Steven Restagno, and their teacher, Sandra Bethell, will be present at the opening.
