Please join us at Homer Watson House & Gallery for the February edition of our 2018 Lunchtime Lounge!
Jonathan Walford, Curator at the Fashion History Museum, will be our guest for this engaging lecture about the evolution of fashion from the early 1800’s. Discussing storytelling in the museum, Walford will talk about how artifacts can be read like books to better understand our history and ourselves.
The Fashion History Museum was founded in 2004, became a federal non-profit corporation in 2008, and was granted charitable status by Canada Revenue Agency in March 2009. The collection consists of nearly 10,000 garments and accessories dating from the 1660s to the present. Alongside historical dress, the museum is building a contemporary Canadian designer collection as well as a comprehensive library and archives of fashion related publications and documents.
In addition to our educational lecture, we will also serve light refreshments and provide tours of Homer Watson’s former home. Feel free to bring a lunch. Admission for this event is $10.00 per person. Complimentary admission is offered to those who hold a valid membership.
