Indigenous Drumming

Thursday, June 8, 2017

12:00 – 1:00 pm

Please join us at Homer Watson House & Gallery for the June edition of our 2017 educational Interactive Speaker Series!

This June we will be celebrating National Indigenous History Month with a special guest, Frazer Sundown. Frazer comes from the Oneida Nation and is a member of the Turtle Clan. Music runs in his family as his father is a singer and his grandparents and great grandparents performed musically as well. Throughout his life, Frazer has been exposed to many traditional ceremonies, venues that cater to the skill of traditional song and dance of his culture and other Indigenous cultures. Frazer resides in London, Ontario and practices his culture nearby at the Oneida Settlement and other haudenosaunee territories in New York.

Frazer has performed all over the world and throughout North America, he will be joining us for a musical performance using his hand drum. The audience will have the opportunity to participate. Following his musical performance Frazer will shed light on his inspiration and answer audience questions.

In addition to our educational lecture, we will also serve light refreshments and provide tours of Homer Watson’s former home. Feel free to bring a lunch. Admission for this event is $10.00 per person. Complimentary admission is offered to those who hold a valid membership.
