Please join us at Homer Watson House & Gallery for the September edition of our 2017 educational Interactive Speaker Series!
Homer Watson House & Gallery is proud to invite you to the September installment of our Lunchtime Lounge Interactive Speaker Series. Join us for an insightful lecture on Thursday, September 14 from 12-1 pm featuring local historian rych mills, who will reflect on the creation, development and changing role of Homer Watson Park. We will gather at the corner of Huron Road and Mill Park Drive, where there is a historical information plague and parking lot. Guests are reminded to wear sturdy walking shoes, bring bug repellent, water bottle, and camera (optional.) We will be walking through Homer Watson Park for the lecture and then guests are invited back to Homer Watson House & Gallery for light refreshments.
rych mills, a two- term president of the Waterloo Historical Society, currently hold the position of publication committee chair/ volume editor and storage coordinator. His interest in local history is apparent in his lecture on Homer Watson Park, a City of Kitchener Park that sprawls along the Grand River and Schneider Creek for several kilometers. From the original idealist intentions through the realities of trying to keep it solvent; from the historic importance of the park to its modern concept; from its dramatic geography to its old-growth tree cover, rych mills will explore the development of this keynote Kitchener park formerly know as Cressman’s Woods.
In addition to our educational and interesting lecture, we will also serve light refreshments and provide tours of Homer Watson’s former home.
Admission for this event is $10.00 per person. Complimentary admission is offered to current members.
