VACCINATION POLICY

Homer Watson House & Gallery
January 24, 2022

Re-opening February 4, 2022:

  • In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, our capacity will be reduced to 20 visitors at a time.

At Homer Watson House & Gallery the safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors is our top priority.  As such, we have implemented the following requirements for entry to the gallery:

Beginning November 1, 2021:

HWHG requires all visitors, staff members, volunteers, and contractors who are 12 years of age or older, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to entering the buildings at HWHG.  This includes the gallery spaces, classrooms, and external buildings. Visitors will be required to show proof of vaccination and personal identification to be permitted entrance to the gallery.

Additionally, all visitors will be required to follow any other COVID-19 regulations regardless of their vaccination status. This includes regular hand washing, mask wearing and staying home if symptomatic.

Before entering any of the indoor spaces at HWHG, everyone will be asked a series of health screening questions. Should you answer yes to any of these, please visit us at another time.

HWHG will accept the Ontario Enhanced Vaccine Certificate when it becomes available. Until then, the following documentation will be accepted:

  1. Receipt of full COVID-19 vaccination issued by the public health authority that administered the vaccine. For visitors who received their vaccinations in Ontario, documents can be accessed at https://covid19.ontariohealth.ca/ with an OHIP number.
  2. Government issued ID (i.e. driver’s license, health card or passport) that matches the proof of full vaccination documentation.

Or

  1. HWHG will accept documented medical exemptions as outlined by the Province of Ontario. Please visit the Ontario.ca website for more information.

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”

Ye banks and braes o’ bonny Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.

Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon,
To see the rose and woodbine twine;
And ilka bird sang o’ its love,
And fondly sae did I o’ mine.
Wi’ lightsome heart I pu’d a rose,
Fu’ sweet upon its thorny tree;
And my fause lover stole my rose,
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
