To create this 4 leaf clover, you will need the following supplies:

  • Green paper or card
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pen or pencil

  1. Measure out 5 strips of paper, each one 2cm wide and 30cm long.
  2. Cut out the strips
  3. Fold each strip in half lengthwise
  4. Turn the ends of a folded strip in and staple, repeat for 4 pieces, you will end up with 4 heart shapes.
  5. Line up the base of each heart and staple together.
  6. Use the remaining strip to make a stem, staple it between two of the hearts.
  7. Trim the stem to desired length.
  8. Congratulations! You have completed your clover! Why not try making a garland of clovers!

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”

Ye banks and braes o’ bonny Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.

Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon,
To see the rose and woodbine twine;
And ilka bird sang o’ its love,
And fondly sae did I o’ mine.
Wi’ lightsome heart I pu’d a rose,
Fu’ sweet upon its thorny tree;
And my fause lover stole my rose,
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
