OILS & ACRYLICS OPEN STUDIO ONLINE CLASS

Mondays at 7-9pm starting July 6, 2020

Learn various oil and acrylic painting tips and techniques as you enjoy the therapeutic benefits of art from the comfort of your own home!

An excellent opportunity to learn new techniques and standard approaches to painting landscapes, figures and animals. Students will gain understandings how to strengthen their use of acrylics and or oil paints, as well as colour theory, composition, value and texture. This course is a mixture of working off of a pre-determined picture and working off a picture of choice.

Materials:

  • – Sketchbook
  • – Pencil
  • – A couple of canvas boards – minimum size 8×10 inches (dollar store is sufficient) stretched canvases and larger sizes are welcomed
  • – Acrylics or Oil paints – with a basic palette of; white, crimson red, cerulean blue (hue), ultramarine or pthalo blue, and medium yellow (cadmium yellow medium) – this are the basic colours.

Tickets are valid for all four course dates: July 6, 13, 20 & 27 from 7-9pm. Please note you will need to download the free Zoom app to participate.

LANDSCAPES LIKE WATSON ONLINE CLASS

Wednesdays at 7-9pm starting July 8, 2020

Get inspired by the history and learn how to paint like the famous Homer Watson in this exciting four part course with artist Scott McNichol.

Learn to draw and paint landscapes like Canada’s first notable Canadian landscape painter, Homer Watson. Students will learn the history of the art and the techniques used by Watson during his time. With Watson’s inspiration and style, students will reinterpret one of his famous works of art using oil or acrylic paints. Tickets are valid for all four classes: July 8, 15, 22 & 29 from 7-9pm.

Materials:

  • – Sketchbook
  • – Pencil
  • – A couple of canvas boards (minimum size 8×10 inches)
  • – Acrylic or Oil paints – with a basic palette of: white, crimson red, cerulean blue (hue), ultramarine or pthalo blue, and medium yellow (cadmium yellow medium)

BOTANICAL WATERCOLOURS ONLINE CLASS

Wednesdays at 6:30-8pm starting August 5, 2020

Explore the beauty of your garden through watercolours with artist, Moumita Roychowdhury.

Preserve your summer garden in the beautiful medium of watercolours with artist Moumita Roychowdhury. In this course, August 5, 12, 19 & 26, 6:30-8pm, participants will learn various blending and brush techniques as they take inspiration from the garden.

Materials:

  • Watercolour paper (at least 140 lb)
  • Assorted watercolour paints
  • Assorted brushes
  • Masking tape
  • Table salt
  • Palette
  • Water container
  • Paper towels.

DRAWING: THE FOUNDATION OF ART ONLINE CLASS

Thursdays at 7-8:30pm starting August 6, 2020

Drawing is the foundation for all other forms of art. Improve all aspects of your art with this four week course.

Drawing is essential for learning how to see and record creative ideas. It is a precursor to other artistic practices, such as painting and printmaking. Boost your skills and confidence in drawing and elevate all of your artistic creations with experienced artist-instructor, Janus. Suitable for beginner to intermediate students looking to gain new skills and techniques in their drawing practice.

Materials:

  • Sketchbook and/or paper
  • Pencil
  • Eraser

URBAN SKETCHING TECHNIQUES ONLINE CLASS

Mondays at 7-9pm starting August 10, 2020

Join the urban sketching movement and get inspired by your surroundings in this fun and informative course.

Learn a variety of techniques to help you capture your surroundings and join the urban sketching movement! Each week, August 10, 17, 24, & 31 7-8:30pm, will focus on a different theme, such as perspective drawing. Join Candice Leyland as she teaches sketching from different inspirational photographs and Google Maps.

  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • Erasers
  • Watercolour Optional (If using watercolours make sure your sketchbook is meant for Watercolour or Mixed Media)
