ART PARTIES

Let’s celebrate together, whatever the occasion!

Birthdays, field trips, team building, half-birthdays, Bar and Bat mitzvah, or best friends hanging out.  

YOU CAN’T SPELL PARTY WITHOUT ART!  

Our party includes 10 participants, and everything needed to make fabulous pieces of artwork. Art projects are led by engaging art instructors for 1 hour. Afterward, the space is open for 1 hour of pizza, cake or whatever you like to bring!

Our art activities are appropriate for children, youth, and adults. See below to explore party themes.

Passport to Party:
The Painting Party
$200

Learn to paint like Homer Watson’s sister Phoebe using rhythm, colour value and tone. Each participant will learn watercolour techniques to create a landscape painting from life or from their imagination. The best part is that each party goer walks away with a postcard from the celebration!

Clay Creators:
The Pottery Party
$275

Clay sculpting is perfect for the partygoers who enjoy sensory play and getting messy! Each guest will hand build one fun or functional artwork using clay and underglaze colours. Using a pinch pot technique guests can make a bowl for treasures or a piece of treasure itself! *Projects are ready 3-4 weeks later for pick up.

Printed Play:
The Printmaking Party
$200

Create your own print! Design a block print showing off your favourite parts of nature, then carve your own printmaking plate! Party-goers will learn how negative and positive space is important when creating these monotype prints, laying the groundwork for understanding printmaking.

Watson’s Craft: Custom Theme/Workshop 

Have your own idea for a party/private workshop? Email us at programs@homerwatson.on.ca and we’ll work with you to develop a fun activity especially for you. Magic wands and dinosaur teeth are just a few of the fun activities we’ve done! *Additional fees apply* 

Details and FAQ:  

  • Parties take place in one of our studios & events spaces – The Basement Studio or the Garden Studio. *Location of birthday is determined based on availability & group size*
  • The art project is chosen by you ahead of time. To ensure optimal instruction, each guest makes the same project. There is always room for creativity when it comes to final touches. 
  • The total party time is 2 hours including the art activity and the party time. Set up time is 15 minutes before the party and clean up time is 15 min after the party. 
  • $50 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to hold the date. 
  • $10 Extra guest (Maximum 15 participants in the Basement Studio & maximum 20 participants in the Garden Studio) 
  • Participants should be dressed appropriately. Some paints do not wash out of clothes. 
  • Materials are included. Party host provides everything else (including decor, food, beverages, loot bags, cutlery, etc.)  
  • Art projects are taken home the same day except for Earthenware clay which is ready for pick up 3-4 weeks following the event. 
  • Please speak to HWHG staff for more information on allowed decor.

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”
