Celebrate those who nurture at our Mother’s Day Soirée

Saturday May 7, 2022
1-4pm

While we appreciate Mother Nature and those who nurture every day here at HWHG, we thought we should do something special this May to celebrate all mothers!

Join us in our efforts to build a vibrant, inclusive, and connected community through art on Saturday, May 7, from 1:00-4:00 at our Mother’s Day Soirée presented by Momentum Developments.

We welcome families of all ages to the Homer Watson House & Gallery grounds to participate in creative activities such as artist led workshops, refreshments from Cafe Pyrus, photobooth, mommy and me portraits, jewelry making, music, shopping at our pop up gift market, and more.

Tickets include: gallery admission, entry to all event activities, a goodie bag (one per family, while supplies last), and one complimentary signature beverage from Cafe Pyrus pop up cafe.

Every ticket purchased directly supports community programs offered both digitally and in person at Homer Watson House & Gallery. We are so grateful for your support!

*This event will be adapted to current Covid-19 guidelines.

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”

Ye banks and braes o’ bonny Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.

Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon,
To see the rose and woodbine twine;
And ilka bird sang o’ its love,
And fondly sae did I o’ mine.
Wi’ lightsome heart I pu’d a rose,
Fu’ sweet upon its thorny tree;
And my fause lover stole my rose,
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
