EXHIBITION

Infatuation

Featuring Eastwood Collegiate Institute IAP Students

January 12 – 28, 2024

Homer Watson House & Gallery presents Infatuation, an exhibition celebrating students from Eastwood Collegiate Institute’s Integrated Arts Program. This annual show provides a unique opportunity for art students to create and curate an exhibition at Homer Watson House & Gallery.

Where passion and escapism collide, there lies the beautiful and destructive allure of infatuation. As artists, we strive to encapsulate these desires, allowing our inner selves to be created outwardly, and expressing essential yet unspeakable feelings.

Emblematic of our profound and unique journeys of self-discovery, Infatuation represents our unity through art, a universal exploration of vulnerability.

The Loch Doon area was memorialized in celebrated Scottish poet, Robert Burns piece “Ye banks and braes O’ bonnie Doon”

Ye banks and braes o’ bonny Doon,
How can ye bloom sae fresh and fair?
How can ye chant, ye little birds,
And I sae weary fu’ o’ care?
Thou’lt break my heart, thou warbling bird,
That wantons thro’ the flowering thorn:
Thou minds me o’ departed joys,
Departed, never to return.

Aft hae I rov’d by bonnie Doon,
To see the rose and woodbine twine;
And ilka bird sang o’ its love,
And fondly sae did I o’ mine.
Wi’ lightsome heart I pu’d a rose,
Fu’ sweet upon its thorny tree;
And my fause lover stole my rose,
But, ah! he left the thorn wi’ me.
